Drama (4-6 yrs)
Drama (7-8 yrs)
- These courses feature the building blocks of theatre. Their aim is to increase the child’s self-awareness, confidence, and communications skills. Games, music, story-telling techniques, role-playing, puppetry, and relaxation are used to develop the basic skills of dramatic expression. There will also be a an year-end performance.
Drama (9-12yrs)
- This course will explore theatre techniques through improvisation, theatre games, character study through monologues and scene work, genre, skit preparation & performance, voice & speech training, and relaxation through visualization techniques. There will be a year-end scripted performance of a play from children’s theatre.
Teen Drama
- This course will focus on believability through character development, script analysis and listening skills through imagination, games and improvisation. Students at this level are more comfortable with their own creativity and this course is tailored to fit the needs of the participants. Individual strengths will be recognized and weaknesses will be strengthened. Audition techniques, preparing bio & head-shots, as well as audition and agency resources will be made available to participants wishing to pursue movie/TV prospects. There will be a year-end scripted performance from contemporary youth theatre.
Adult Drama
- No experience required! This introductory drama course features elements of dramatic techniques through character development using monologues and scene work, genre, skit preparation & performance, relaxation techniques, cold readings, and improvisation. This course is tailored to fit the needs of participants and their varied levels of experience in the field of theatre.
Le Petit Theatre Valois – Adult Performance
- Students registered in the Adult Drama who wish to participate in a performance may audition for a play from contemporary theatre announced in December of each year. Rehearsals will run immediately following the Adult Drama time-slot beginning in January.
Previous performances include:
- The Odd Couple (female version) – a full-length play by Neil Simon.
- Depth Perception – a compilation of scenesand monologues from contemporary theatre.
